I woke up this morning perkier than usual. I suppose I, like most people, am expecting wonderful things to happen in 2009, especially after that buttplug leaves office. You know the one I mean.
To commemorate this day, I threw together a little iTunes playlist of some of my favorite ladies - I've been celebrating with them since nine this morning. I thought I'd share them with you.
- "Rain" - Jerry Garcia Band. Donna Jean Godchaux sings this delightful song.
- "New World Coming" - Dr. Nina Simone.
- "Hey, Jack Kerouac" - 10,000 Maniacs.
- "Killing Me Softly With His Song" - Blossom Dearie. I love Blossom Dearie o so much.
- "I Need You" - the Pointer Sisters. Who doesn't love those Pointers, I ask you.
- "This Flight Tonight" - Joni Mitchell.
- "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today" - Dusty Springfield. The best version of this song.
- "Love Is Everything" - Jane Siberry. I love this song. Listen to kd lang's version, too.
- "Let It Be Me" - Indigo Girls. I wish they were in charge.
- "All You Get From Love Is a Love Song" - The Carpenters. Dang, that Karen Carpenter just kills me.
- "In the Still of the Night" - Ella Fitzgerald. I saw her perform when I was 16.
- "Simple" - kd lang.
- "How Long Has This Been Going On?" - Judy Garland. So sue me, I like Judy.
- "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" - Liza Minnelli.
- "A Good Thing" - Saint Etienne.
- "Primitive" - Annie Lennox.
- "Special Bonus Track" - Surprise Celebrity.
You can download all those little numbers RIGHT HERE.
Clearly, I am having a very faggy new year. But so far it's been good - I hope it keeps going that way for everybody.
